The Angels retired the number 26 in his honor as the 26th man on a 25-man roster. Rigney was on his way to a fifth-place finish in his second year as Twins manager, and Cronin, a Hall of Fame shortstop with the Washington Senators and Boston Red Sox, was American League president from 1959-1973.
